Atlantis Men Return to Action For First Time In Two Years!

Dave Codell

Atlantis Rugby will feature a men’s side this week for the first time in two years as we seek to defend our title at Freetail 7s in Austin, Texas on December 30 and 31. The 2019 version of Freetail 7s was the inaugural version of the event and we are proud to be the first-time men’s champions in tournament history.

Standout players from the 2019 side included Dylan Carrion who was named men’s player of the final and Aren Martin who was named men’s fastest bat in the cup rounds. Aren was joined by Sione Masoe and Mitch Vannoy on the tournament dream team and it should also be noted that since the final was played on New Years Eve it is believed that Sione Masoe scored the last competitive try worldwide for the 2010s decade.

Mitch and Aren are returning to the team this year alongside coaches Lynn and Chris Howard and Chris Ryan. The experience of all of these individuals will be invaluable for a tournament like this with an elite field of teams.

Atlantis has been placed into Pool A alongside Gorilla Rugby, NAV, and Apex Rugby while Pool B features the Raggamuffins, Chicago Lions, Hartford Harpooners, and Rock Rugby.

Our full roster for this event is:

Blake Blaylock

Jake Campey

Matt Coore

Spike Davis

Jimmy Haley

David Hightower

Jabaree Leopold

Aren Martin

Deionte Mcmurray

Isaiah Rademacher

Zach Rademacher

Patrick Regan

Mitch Vannoy

Good luck to everyone representing Atlantis Rugby this week as we seek to end the year on a high note and bring home another title!
