The Atlantis Rugby 15s program began in June of 2024 and in that time we’ve kept ourselves fairly busy with teams competing at the U18 level for both boys and girls as well as U16 boys. This June the teams combined for a 8-4 record across two events in Ohio and Maryland and we are looking forward to more XV opportunities this fall.
Our most recent event was the Mid-Atlantic Academies Championship at beautiful Mount St. Mary’s University. The U18 boys faced extremely talented competition from the Ohio Aviators and Midwest Selects as they played to a 1-3 record on the weekend. The U16 boys fared a bit better against the same teams, earning a 3-1 record. We have to give a lot of credit to our opponents who brought really great teams to this event and played well. It’s great the see so many motivated young players get these opportunities. On a similar note, shout out to all of the home clubs and competitions that work with all of these players on a daily basis to help them develop.
With these results the XV program moves to 40-11-1 overall with the U18 boys at 13-6, the U18 girls at 12-3, and the U16 boys at 15-2-1. The teams also have an overall scoreline of 1,410 points scored to only 530 points conceded.
